2022 Feb Outreach | Mother of Peace Orphanage

On Saturday 12th February 2022, our Operation Mercy team gathered together for our Jesus is My Valentine Outreach and distributed food hampers, hygiene products, clothes and stationery to 25 children at the Mother of Peace Children’s Home in Kya Sands.

Overview

Our Associate Pastor ministered to the children on the Love of Jesus and salvation within the 4 spiritual laws and gave them the opportunity to surrender their lives to Jesus. Without a doubt, the most memorable part of the whole experience was when the 3 children came forward, fully surrendered, and gave their hearts to Jesus.

We reflected on Luke 18:16 "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." And our hearts were filled with overwhelming joy.

God is waiting for people who are willing to respond to the cry of those who are in need. To our partners, members and community, let us continue to stand together to honour this calling. Let us continue to extend a helping hand to those in need. As believers, this should be one of our primary missions, to give these children a new beginning at the hand of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Some Feedback from the Outreach Team...

“This was such a memorable experience for me, my heart was moved with the love of God the moment I laid my eyes on the little kids. To be able to give to them and show the love of Jesus was so fulfilling”.

“This is the first time I’ve been to an orphanage like Mother of Peace. It made me realize how much I take for granted. And how much more blessed we are to help those children in need”

Zachary Mack

“My experience at “Mother of Peace” Orphanage was heart-warming and humbling. It was sad to see so many children orphaned, but at the same time was humbled to be part of a team that touched their lives.  With such a small act of giving, we were able to show love to the unloved” Antashia

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

Collection

With the support of our partners, church members and community, we were able to collect various items such as food, hygiene products, clothes and stationery. We were so moved by the love of God shown by all of those who willingly gave towards this initiative.

The Action Plan

Our Operation Mercy team gathered at The Miracle Centre Church at 9am. We all prayed together  and invited Our Precious Holy Spirit to lead and guide us before embarking on the love drive. Thereafter, we quickly packed all the items of food, clothing , school supplies and non perishables together into our vehicles and made our way to the “Mother of Peace” orphanage in Kya Sands, Johannesburg.

Our team of 8 met with Valerie, the caretaker of the children at the Home. Valerie was so thankful as we handed the goods to her. These precious children have various needs and unfortunately government subsidies are not enough to take care of each child. In addition to this and most importantly, the children needed to be shown the love of Jesus and to be reminded that Jesus loves them, and He has not forgotten about them.

Some Photos

We don't like to take photos of those receiving parcels since it makes them feel uncomfortable and used (all too often corporations use photos like those to promote themselves and in the process humiliate those in need - we don't want that). The selection of photos below are only from those who agreed to have their photos published.
